The Fountain - Stunning New Relaunch posted on 7 February 2012
The Fountain has been a well established central Cambridge bar for some years, however from December 2011 after an extensive refurbishment the bar is set to reach new heights, with a stylish new look and extensive offer. The modernised bar has a unique style with industrial urban retro elements, including polished concrete floors, 70s Danish influenced furniture, and a fantastic new charcoal coloured concrete bar.
The new menu has a selection of homemade tapas, and a daily changing menu, including an award winning pie and mash for which The Fountain are well known. The tapas menu consists of 12 dishes giving a selection of meat, fish and vegetarian. Traditional roasts will be served on Sunday's whilst customers relax reading papers or playing pub games, and listening to laid back tunes provided by the afternoon DJ. Food is served all day everyday from 12pm.
The bar boasts a great selection of beers, with 8 beers on draught, 5 cask ales, a cask cider and a selection of 30 bottled beers and ciders from across the globe. The comprehensive wine list has all wines available by the glass, and a fine selection of rums and whiskeys are offered. The bar is open everyday from 11am to 3am.
There are a variety of music events throughout the week, with live music mainly from local bands on a Wednesday, a nationally acclaimed DJ night on a Thursday and then local DJ sessions on Fridays and Saturdays.
Other events at The Fountain include a Stock Exchange night every Tuesday, whereby 10 products are floated on the Fountain Exchange, these products rise and fall in price according to sales, also watch out for crashes when products fall to rock bottom prices! Selected discounted drinks and free pool are available everyday until 7pm.
There is a large function room on the top floor, which has it’s own bar and a capacity of 90 people. The room has a variety of different uses including corporate events & meetings, privately promoted music nights, birthday parties, wedding receptions, or as an art space for exhibitions, film showings, theatre or dance performances.
In short The Fountain is a fantastic venue for all manner of uses, from a quiet daytime drink and bite to eat whilst taking advantage of the free wireless internet available throughout, to a corporate event, to a bustling late night music venue. Well worth a visit at anytime of day!
