The Clarendon Arms can be found on Clarendon Street, just off Parker’s Piece in the Kite area of central Cambridge. This traditional and unique city centre pub has opened it doors to locals and visitors alike for over 100 years and continues to hold the values you would expect from an inviting local pub.

Landlord, Josh Vargo took up residency at The Clarendon Arms in January 2012 –his second successful Cambridge pub, Josh and his team have been in charge at the ever popular Green Man, Grantchester for the past 2 ½ years and felt it was time to offer their services in the city centre as well as in the Cambridgeshire countryside.

At the Clarendon Arms they could not be more passionate about cask- and bottle-conditioned ales from local brewers and from around the world, they have six hand pulls, serving the best offerings of Greene King (you’ll always find IPA and the increasingly hard-to-find XX Mild on tap, as well as St Peter’s Best Bitter) and a continually changing list of guest beers.

Take a look behind the bar and you’ll see their extensive range of handpicked bottled beers from local breweries and from far afield. If there’s something you don’t see, let them know and they’ll do their best to find it, ready for your next visit.

One of the main reasons for the popularity of The Clarendon Arms is its superb food menus – offering a wide selection of pub classics and priding themselves on offering fresh, high quality meals at a reasonable price. All dishes on the menu are homemade, using as many local ingredients as possible, including Cambridgeshire beef and local free-range eggs – even their chips are hand-cut and the bread is baked less than ten miles away from the pub.

The menu offers a number of delightful sides & starters, succulent main courses and delicious desserts. And we all know the best way to round off a great weekend is to enjoy a homemade Sunday Roast – which offers the week’s local meat, served with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, homemade stuffing and gravy and vegetables!

The Clarendon Arms also offers a superb selection of live Jazz music on Sunday evenings in the form of The Andy Bowie quartet. The group has, in various guises, been a feature of the Cambridge jazz scene for a long time – holding residencies at The Cricketers and The Elm Tree for over ten years. Their repertoire stretches from Duke Ellington to John Coltrane to Wayne Shorter and Joe Henderson, mixing more traditional ballads with modern jazz standards, many of which are rarely played. They play every Sunday 20:30 until 23:00 and entry is free all evening.
