The concept of the village pub has changed immeasurably over recent years. In decades gone by, you would probably have encountered a dusty couple of rooms filled with local characters, the choice of a couple of beers, and a food selection not extending much beyond a cheese and pickle sandwich. Nowadays, as pubs such as The Navigator in Little Shelford demonstrate, the village local can be a place that offers excellent international cuisine alongside a fine selection of well-kept beers on tap, and a really welcoming, smart environment.

Since landlord Mark Mosely took over - he has helped transform The Navigator into a pub that offers the best of both worlds. It is a now a real village hub (they are proud sponsors of Little Shelford’s cricket team and hold a weekly pub quiz), that combines a respect for its history with a real contemporary feel, and also demonstrates a real passion for great Thai cuisine.

In summer the building is garlanded with bright hanging baskets, and has a pretty garden alongside. Inside, it is a place of low beams, exposed brickwork and wooden furniture, with nice touches like logs for the fireplace piled up by one of the entrances. Many people visit at lunchtimes or in the evenings to sample their authentic Thai menus, which offer great value and choice.

All the food at The Navigator is freshly-prepared by their team of expert chefs (right down to the spring rolls and fish cakes) and comprises all the fresh, mouth-watering flavours of proper Thai cooking.
