Shepreth Wildlife Park first started as a private wild animal sanctuary in 1979 when a young injured jackdaw was brought to the Willers family to look after – instantly falling in love with him, he was welcomed into their family and the foundations for Shepreth Wildlife Park had begun.
Over the years founder Terry Willers and his family have transformed, what once was a small sanctuary for unwanted or injured animals into Shepreth Wildlife Park as we know it today.
One of the most reassuring things about Shepreth Wildlife Park is knowing that all the animals that have found their way to the park have been rescued in some way. Over the years the park has adopted many other injured victims and have hand reared countless orphaned animals - many of the exotic animals you can see in the park come from zoos that have closed down, were unwanted pets or are part of captive breeding programmes in which Shepreth Wildlife Park participate in.
With hundreds of animals to see, it is hard to decide on where to start, visitors can see animals from all over the world, including squirrel monkeys, lemurs, meerkats, owls, deer, foxes, mountain lions, lynx, bats, rabbits, slow loris and Shepreth Wildlife Park’s most recognisable inhabitants – the Bengal Tigers; Amba and Rana .
Shepreth Wildlife Park is separated into a number of areas, some of which include, the Big Cat House, the Nocturnal House, Water World & Bug City and Monkey Island – you’ll also find the park is the perfect place to let the children burn off some energy on the outdoor adventure playground or in the new indoor facility; Ringo’s Play Barn.
Visitors are free to make their own way around the park, but if preferred there are opportunities to learn a little more about the animals by taking the V.I.P Guided Tour. The tour takes you and up to 20 visitors around the park, led by one of the dedicated animal keepers.
At Shepreth Wildlife Park there is an emphasis on education, everyone involved with the park has a true passion for animals and if you’re just the same, the experience and knowledge on offer is truly inspirational.
A number of different experiences are available, including the Wildlife Educator Experience and the Personal Bug Experience - where visitors get the chance to get up close and handle bugs, reptiles and mammals.
Some of the most popular experiences give visitors the chance to live a day in the life of a keeper - with the Adult and Junior Keeper Experiences. Budding keepers can choose from a number of animal encounters, including the Tiger Keeper, Meet the Lemurs, Meet the Meerkats and Fly the Birds of Prey – experiences that are truly magical for anyone who has a passion for wildlife.
Shepreth Wildlife Park is a great day out for the whole family and caters for children and adults of all ages – the newly built cafeteria and Ringo’s Playbarn are the perfect place for parents to relax and enjoy a coffee whilst the children play safely on the slides, climbing ropes and in the giant plastic ball pools. Birthday parties are available to book and offer a fun packed day for everyone involved.
Shepreth Wildlife Park is easy to get to, you can travel by rail from Cambridge Station - the Wildlife Park entrance is situated to the right of the railway station car park.
Alternatively you can find the Wildlife Park by car – situated between Cambridge and Royston, off the A10. Turn into the village of Shepreth and look for the railway station. The Wildlife Park’s driveway is adjacent to the station’s car park.

Winter: 10am to 5pm (Closed Christmas day)
Group bookings: 15 + paying visitors.
20% discount if booked & paid three weeks in advance.
