    Fly Navy at The Shuttleworth Collection, Old Warden Aerodrome, Bedfordshire SG18 9EP

    Fly Navy is a celebration of naval heritage aircraft from the early 1900s to 1960s. This event is supported by the outstanding work of Fly Navy Heritage Trust, who have secured a memorable line-up of extraordinary and historic aircraft for a thrilling show. The pilot chat is about the BAE systems owned Avro Anson, with its new colour scheme. Follow the Richard Shuttleworth trail (download the app), enjoy live music, explore the activities in our children’s discovery zone, take a free ride on vintage buses, explore the Swiss Garden and The House, and enjoy craft activities for children in the Swiss Garden, and make a free aircraft model with Airfix & IPMS Brampton ‘Make & Paint’.

    June Evening Airshow at The Shuttleworth Collection, Old Warden Aerodrome, SG18 9EP

    Close to mid-Summer with the light typically at its best long into the evening this classic flying evening at Shuttleworth will have a relaxed atmosphere, and one of the best chances to see the Edwardian aircraft if the weather is calm and favourable enough for these incredible aircraft to take to the skies. This unique collection of aircraft from the early and pioneering years of aviation are quite unlike any found anywhere else in the UK and really have to be seen flying! On site refreshments will be available including a bar. There’s a free Swiss Garden tour available and our vintage buses will be running for free passenger rides.

    Hurricane Heritage R4118 Photography Day at The Shuttleworth Collection, Old Warden Aerodrome, Nr Biggleswade, SG18 9EP

    This special Hurricane Heritage event is a close-up and personal photography day led by well known aviation photographer Darren Harbar, with the special opportunity to take a seat in this historic Battle of Britain fighter!* With training and practical advice, enjoy the chance to take great period images of Hawker Hurricane R4118 in its natural grass airfield environment. Teaching technique and camera skills advice will be available for those who need it, and the day includes a static photography session with a ‘Battle of Britain pilot’ re-enactor. Special extras include: The chance to meet the aircraft owner, James Brown to find out more about this aircraft and why it’s so special; A Hurricane Heritage pilot’s chat about what it’s like to fly the Hawker Hurricane, the chance to experience the thrill of sitting inside the cockpit itself * and entry to the Collection.     Workshop: Pottery Painting at The Swiss Garden, Old Warden, Nr Biggleswade, SG18 9EP

    30/06/18 to 30/06/18 - First Session: 10:00 – 12:30 to Second Session: 13:30 - £25 per adult and £15 per child (aged 10-16 years)

    Led by local ceramic artist Eve Carroll and drawing inspiration from the wonderful surroundings of the Swiss Garden, this creative art session will focus on nature, wildlife and some of the 18th century architectural elements found in the garden. Participants will be encouraged to sketch out a design based on their own particular interests, and will learn how to transfer those drawings onto tiles using ceramic paint. Once the paint is applied, the tiles will be left to dry and coated with a layer of transparent glaze back at Eve’s studio – they can then be collected from the visitor centre at Shuttleworth after a 2-week period, or posted to participants.* *Extra costs apply for postage – £5 per item. Refreshments and all materials are included in the cost of the workshop.
